Adult Ministries/Community Presence

Education, Fellowship and Fun for Singles, Families, Couples...Everyone!

What is a church without a mission and purpose?  I am glad that every team within GLUMC is exploring their mission and purpose. The purpose of the Adult Ministries/Community Presence team is to encourage growth and discipleship of every adult in this congregation! Wow! That’s a pretty tall order but the key word here is to encourage. How do we do this? We provide Christian Education (adult Sunday School), Community Awareness and Fellowship.  The action comes from you! Prayerfully consider how God would like to enhance your walk in discipleship.  Watch our bulletin board for more information. If you have an interest in being part of this team or even think you might be interested, please contact Lori Morrett.

"October 31st Trick or Treating in the Square"

Ten of us enjoyed seeing the kids & costumes while passing out candy and pencils with our church name, website, and mission statement on them. So many were excited and happy to receive the pencils! It was a wonderful evening all the way around. Please take a look at our pictures.

Beginning February 26th Two NEW Adult SS classes:

St. John’s Library: Changed from Glory into Glory
“If you feel like a novice in prayer, Paul Chilcote’s guidance will assist your first steps. If you are experienced in the ways of prayer, you will find resources to deepen your relationship with God in Christ. Attentive prayer, responsive prayer, unceasing prayer, and corporate worship are among topics explored through art, hymns, and reflection”
This class will be lead by Norma Beguhl and will follow Pastor Mona’s sermons during the season of Lent. Class will run February 26th thru April 1st (Palm Sunday)

Adult Classroom (1st room past the Nursery in Ed wing): Final Words from the Cross
Adam Hamilton examines Christ’s dying hours and his final words as seen and heard through the eyes and ears of those who stood near the cross. Adam then moves to Jesus’ words to the disciples on the road to Emmaus and to those who were witnesses to the Resurrection.
This DVD study will be team led by Karen Morse and Lori Morrett. The class will run February 26th thru April 1st (Palm Sunday).

Bring your cup of coffee or tea and join one another for some spiritual growth and fellowship! Nursery is available during the Sunday School hour.

Opportunities to serve

GLUMC encourages participation in our many ministires of service and learning.  Some areas where you can easily participate include being an usher, greeter or liturgist during worship services, refreshment host after worship services, helping with our Soup Supper ministry, or gardening of the many flower beds on the church property.  If you have a talent or desire that you would like to share, let us know!
